The Candy Factory
Once known for the production of Smarties, this loft building is now the most exquisite place for trendy loft living. Exposed pipes, wooden ceilings, inner brick walls and open layouts account for a genuine historical feel in these modern residential units. Toronto sunsets have been described as spectacular from the windows and terraces of these lofts which offer an astonishing view of Queen West. The lofts are very spacious which makes them great for large families. The Distillery District Lofts are a great choice for young professionals and families who love all modern-day conveniences but also a whiff of history. The hard lofts were successfully mixed with new construction Condos that still maintain the charm of the area but bringing more people and life to the Distillery District.
Merchandise Lofts
The last loft on my list is definitely an important one as it is an iconic building in the heart of downtown Toronto that takes up an entire city block and is the largest loft building in Toronto. The Merchandise building dates back to 1930 where it was constructed as the original Sears Warehouse building. The largest conversion of its kind happened in 3 years between 1999-2002 converting the old warehouse into 450 stunning loft units. All lofts have 12 foot high exposed concrete ceilings, mushroom fluted columns and large windows, some capturing an amazing view of the inner core as it is a short walking distance to Dundas Square and Eaton Centre. Besides being a unique loft with great amenities and open airy spaces, the location is really a big selling feature here.
