When you take a drive around neighbourhoods in Toronto, you will see many of the new homes being constructed today are modern in design. Many of my clients are asking if modern architecture is the direction everyone is moving towards. The answer for me is quite clear and not so obvious for people nor based on a matter of preference. When constructing a new home, a modern design allows for more usable space and larger square footage for a home on a given lot size. This in turn makes it more profitable for the builder when coming up with its final ticket price as size does reflect what a builder can ask for a finished home. Now it isn't always about dollars and sense as a modern home has many advantages as it also tends to be brighter with larger windows and has more open and airy spaces. The appeal is finding a new niche of buyers looking for minimalistic designs and a newly constructed home. However if you are looking for a more traditional home, Toronto has many to choose from. The beauty is you can renovate yourself or buy one already renovated to get the new look, feel and comfort of new construction without the cost of a newly built home.
